Staying Healthy By Following The Hierarchy Of Needs
57Staying healthy is very important in maintaining a stress free life brought about by the many challenges we face. When we get sick by unhealthy living or germs, we are faced by incapability to a certain level i.e we cannot perform our best when we are sick or incapacitated in any form.
It is also important to know the nature of our psychological and physiological needs in maintaining a healthy state of living. The psychological and physiological hierarchy of needs was first defined by Abraham Maslow in 1943 as an article in his publication theory of human motivation. These theory explains the necessary steps we go through to achieve a state of well being
Physiological
The first step in maintaining a healthy living according to Maslow's hierarchy of needs is getting the basic things our bodies need to function in a proper manner. Some of the basic things that a person needs in attaning and mantaining a state of health living are proper breathing, food, water, sleep, excretion, and the like.
Among all other things, these are perhaps the most important and common for human existence, any absence of the above needs will result to complications to other needs or outright illness.
Safety
The next level of needs is the safety of physioligical and psychological needs from internal and external stimuli. Internal factors can include germs and bacteria that invade our physical bodies to cause harm in the normal body functions. External stumuli comprises of external objects that can cause or threaten our physical and mental well being.
Keeping our bodies safe from harm means keeping proper form of hygiene and taking the neccesarry supplement to maintain proper mental and physical functions.

Love
Love is the affection and concern received from different social constructs surrounding a person. Living and staying healthy involves affirmation and care from those around us we are social creatures. A lack of affirmation and care from those around us will lead to complication in the next two level of needs in the Maslow's hierarchy of needs.
Love may not necessary mean romantic love that one seeks, but rather the love of of just being accepted as an individual with a distinct personality
Esteem
Esteem is the desired effect of the individual after getting the previous aspect of love. A person with high self-esteem may be able to grow beyond his personal limits. When Self-esteem manifests in a person, he is always willing to fight and carry on with things no matter the challenges. Sometime self esteem is based and dependent on the people who believe in the individual
Self Actualization
After all the other physiological needs have been met, the final and most important need is self actualization. The need of self actualization is needed to finalize and solidify the other four levels of needs. In this aspect, the brain is the controlling and focal factor in holding all the other four needs together to achieve a state of well being both physically and mentally. No matter how well the body can be if your mental state is not in a state of well being. Then everything will start to deteriorate afterward, The two need to be in perfect harmony.
Staying healthy by following the Maslow's hierarchy on needs is an important step by step process needs assessment to stay focused on what areas of well being are important.

See results without votingThank you, that was a good start for me to get to know Kenya. I'd love to read more about Kenya. Are there beautiful and positive things in Kenya ? Maybe you can enlighten us with a hub on those too. :)
I just googled for Masai Mara wildbeest migration. Wow, that is spectacular ! I hope I get the chance to visit Kenya one day. :) Thanks, speedbird.
This is great about Maslo Hierarchy of need, great hub keep it up
Very good information, very informative! Thank you!
This is an interesting and practical illustration of Maslow's hierarchy, which too often is taught absent a meaningful application and consequently quickly forgotten. I thought Ingenira's question about where Kenya is in the pyramid was excellent, as was your response. I join Ingenira in looking forward to your writing a Hub or two about your country. Up and useful!
Useful hub! I think that the last points of self esteem, love and self realization are of utmost importance. If those are absent it will cause our physical bodies to collapse one day.
Great hub. I love Maslow's Hierarchy and he is often in the back of my mind as I write many of my hubs. Well done article. Rated up and useful.

A good explanation of Maslow's Hierarchy Of Needs. I am quite curious, since I have never been to Kenya, how does this Maslow's Hierarchy Of Needs apply to people in Kenya ? Which level of hierachy are majority of Kenya people working at ?
