Does Smoking Help You Lose Weight?
55Is smoking bad or good ? I am sure all people will unanimously agree with me that smoking is bad, because it is bad indeed! But even certain 'bad' things have their own advantages, and smoking cannot be an exception in this regard.
I know many people will find it hard to believe, but if you are an obese or overweight person then smoking can help you a lot! Smoking helps people lose weight by speeding the metabolism rate of the body. In this hub I will explore the relationship between weight loss and smoking even further.
Quit Smoking
Cigarettes Contain Nicotine
While smoking can help you lose weight, it advisable to never smoke since smoking is known to cause more harm than good. Cigarettes contain Nicotine which is a harmful substance that fills up the lungs with dangerous substances such as tar and poisons. Smoking normally chokes your lungs to an extent that you can find it difficult to breathe properly. If not discontinued, Smoking is known cause cancer.
The Disadvantages of Smoking far Outweigh its Advantages
So far, the disadvantages of smoking far outweigh its advantages, and for this rationale you should not look forward to smoking as an available weight loss program option! Always bear in mind that there are better ways to shed of the excess fat, such as diet and exercise. Smoking can give you temporary benefits but the annihilation it causes to your health and body is not worth the the trouble or even trying.
Some people are not willing to quit smoking, not just because of the addiction but because they fear that quitting smoking will make them gain weight. Well, nothing can be further from the truth! Few people ever gain weight after they quit smoking, so that means to stop worrying on the consequences of quitting smoking.

I didn't know smoking may help lose weight, and I still think that if you don't smoke, you shouldn't start no matter what. :)
Speedbird, I want to tell you a short story.
I have never been a smoker. I worked in a very pressure oriented job. I gained a lot of weight! Many of my coworkers lost a lot of weight. I did not know how, but I did know they all smoked. (I was the only employee who did not go out for smoke breaks.)
I decided one day that indeed I should start smoking and I, too, would lose weight. I bought the pack of cigarettes and took them to work with me. I did not want my family to know about this project. I'd tell them once I'd achieved my goal.
I arrived at the parking garage where I worked and stepped outside my car. I would never smoke inside a vehicle. No one smoked in my car. I would not allow it.
I had some matches. It was windy and they kept going out. I was so frustrated, but did not give up.
Finally, success and I lit one up. I took a puff, or whatever it is you call it. I was smoking, and coughing and feeling dizzy and light headed.
After the first puff, I just stood there and happened to look down at the label on the pack "Surgeon General's Warning: smoking can be hazardous to your health..."
I started talking to myself as I grabbed my purse and briefcase and locked the car. "You idiot! What do you think you are doing? How stupid. There has to be another way that will not shorten your life."
I walked over to the trash can and threw matches, smokes and all in there. That was it.
I learned how to lose weight by using a special program for my health and exercise. I also changed the way I eat.
Smoking is NEVER a good idea. I'm so glad you wrote this article. It is awesome and hopefully useful to your readers.
I'm glad I did not become a smoker. It smells nasty and makes everything around you smell nasty. I like clean and fresh smells.
Excellent work. Keep on keeping on.
Miles of smiles coming your way.
Voted up and useful.
I hope you enjoy them half as much as I did yours.
Interesting take on smoking and weight loss. I never really thought of smoking as a tool for losing weight, as in a person who is overweight should not pick up smoking just to burn a few extra calories, however, I think the biggest problem is a lack of control. My parents quit smoking and they subsituted the cigarettes for hard candies. Not a good option. They both put on close to 50 pounds after quitting. However, smoking does make it very difficult to get a good workout in because you are physically suffocating yourself.
I am thinking if a person is trying to quit smoking they should munch on carrots instead of hard candies. It is a healthy snack!
